we're through
The words came to me and the tune started off quite conventionally but as it developed I found myself singing like Hank Williams. I naturally gravitated towards that 1950s arrangement of ‘honky tonk’ piano and double bass and it all fitted together. Personally I like the quirkiness of an arrangement that makes me smile as it’s so perky and totally at odds with the sentiment of the song. My heart is breaking but the tune is great! Sometimes I feel as if other artists are talking to me from somewhere else and it’s like a sign of approval. However in saying the above, I read in a magazine that you get to know an artist through his songs. I would be devastated to think that my lady thought that it had any bearing on our relationship as I'm not sure how I think these songs up sometimes.
